In the forthcoming parliamentary election, many politicians are competing with each other to contest from Amparai district on behalf of Tamil National Alliance. There will be ten candidates who will submit to contest for the seven seats in Ampara district.
News resources from the party says that the constituent parties in TNA have reached for an amicable settlement for number of candidates that are going to contest. Federal party is allotted 5 seats, RELO and EPRLF parties are allotted 2 seats each and PLOTE party has been allotted 1 seat.
It is being reported that from Federal party, Former Eastern province Health Services Director Dr. Mayilvahanam Devarajan is planning to contest. Others are Akkaraipatru former chairman S. Arulambalam in Pothuvil, Dr. R. Tamilnesan in Thampiluvil, Eastern province member T. Kalaiarasan in Navithanveli, Retired Judge R. Swarnaraj in Kalmunai.

The situation is that if the Eastern Provincial council member T. Kalaiarasan has to contest, he has to resign from Eastern Provincial council as member as per the resolution passed by the party. It seems that he is thinking on this matter to decide.
Many also went to Thirumalai to meet their leader Mavai Senathirajah for seat, but it seems that he told them to join the party and do service after which their seats can be considered. There is no clarity on who is contesting from an important Tamil village of the district, Karaithivu. It is being said that sometimes no one will be put there to contest.
