We need new leadership and a fresh start – Mano Ganesan

With a general election looming just beyond the horizon, the United National Party is still mired in the challenge of deciding the leadership of the party.

Addressing media at the UNP party Headquarters Sirikotha, MP Sujith Sanjaya was optimistic as he claimed that there is democracy in the party and noted that an alliance cannot be formed to contest the election, without the UNP.

MP Thushara Indunil speaking to reporters at the Opposition Leader’s office noted that they are prepared to contest the election under an alliance more powerful than the UNP. Indunil noted that the alliance would be led by Sajith Premadasa and that it would ensure that UNP exceeds its current capacity. He added that the Ranil Wickremesinghe factor would not have much impact under this broad alliance.

Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance Mano Ganesan speaking in Moratuwa today emphasized the need for new leadership and a fresh start. Ganesan noted that a final decision on the leadership of the UNP would be reached in the coming days adding that their objective is to ensure that they secure 113 seats in Parliament. The MP believes that this is a challenge that they can achieve.
