People protest demanding the opening of new build of Kilankalan district Hospital in Dickoya (Photos)
On 14.06.2015 the multi-regilious leader and public held demonstration in front of the Kilankan district hospital demanding of opening the newly constructed hospital building in Dickoya.
The protesters said that the building has been constructed with the assistance provided by the Indian government and despite the construction has been completed it has not be opened yet. The patients are facing various inconveniences due to the lack of space in the current hospital building.
The protester further said that keeping in mind the welfare of general public the president should take immediate actions to open this newly constructed building. In this protests, all the people from the Upcountry regions and all the religious leaders from the Hatton area participated.
The protest started in front of the Dikoya Kilankan old hospital building and travelled towards the main road of Hatton Bogawantalawa and reached in front of the new building in Hatton Bogawantalawa. During this protest they carried banners citing ‘ do not make patient wander’ take action to open the newly Kilankan hospital’.
The protest held for one hour under the police protection. After that the protesters subsided from there.
When contacted and asked with the director of the Dikoya Kilankan hospital Dr. Anwar Hamdani he said the following,
Currently, all the facilities in the new building have been completed. Some new machinery, equipments have been brought to the hospital. Some more necessary facilities work has to be done after that in the coming years the hospital will be opened, he said.
