Police complete evidence gathering in Dileep case

IMG_5943The police team probing the abduction and molestation of an actor on Thursday completed its evidence-gathering exercise with actor Dileep, who was arrested for conspiracy in the crime.

The police took Dileep to two hotels and a tennis club in Thrissur, where the actor is supposed to have met the key accused in the case, Sunilkumar aka ‘Pulsar’ Suni, to plan the assault. The meetings were reportedly held during the shoot of Dileep’s last release Georgettan’s Pooram. On Wednesday, he was taken to Thodupuzha and a hotel in Kochi as part of the investigation. The police custody of the 48-year-old will end on Friday when the judicial magistrate court in Angamaly is scheduled to hear his petition for bail.
The interrogation of the actor continued at the Aluva Police Club.

The actor was molested by Suni and the sexual assault was caught on video by his aides in a moving car on the night of February 17.

Anoop, Dileep’s brother, said the actor was being framed and that the conspiracy against him resembled “a film screenplay”.

Meanwhile, protests against the actor continued in Thrissur. Activists of the CPI-affiliated All India Youth Federation staged a protest near the tennis club where the actor was brought to collect evidence.

With more film industry professionals coming out with allegations against Dileep and his real estate interests placed under the scanner, reports emerged on his alleged involvement in the death of actor Kalabhavan Mani in March 2016.

Filmmaker Baiju Kottarakkara told reporters that he has passed on information – received in a phone call – about the real estate partnerships between Dileep and Mani to the CBI, which is probing the case.
