US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to visit Sri Lanka
The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo is expected to visit Colombo in two weeks. Morgan Ortagus, the State Department spokesperson made this announcement at the Daily Press Briefing.
Mike Pompeo is to initially visit India and meet the newly appointed Indian premier Narendra Modi as he believes “his victory would provide an excellent opportunity for him to implement his vision for a stronger and prosperous India”.
Consequently, the secretary will visit Sri Lanka and express America’s solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka as the US unites with Sri Lanka against the despicable 04/21 attack. He is also to discuss promising opportunities beneficial for both Sri Lanka and the US based on a commitment for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Later, he is expected to visit Osaka, Japan to attend the G20 leaders meeting on June 28th. He is also scheduled to visit Korea.
